The 2009 version of this wine was winemaker Daryl Brooker's swan song to Ontario before heading off for B.C.; it just might have been his best wine made at Hillebrand, and one of the best Sauvignon Blanc's Ontario has ever seen ... and for such a cheap price. Now his replacement, Craig McDonald (another Aussie) has tried his hand at Darryl's final flourish - and he's made an admiral stab at it. Aromas are melon, tropical and grapefruit cocktail oriented then adds pleasant grass and melon elements. Price: $13.75 - Rating: ****
