Grange of PEC 2004 Cabernet-Merlot
As far as I can tell, this is the first Prince Edward County wine accepted into the Vintages program at the LCBO – hmmmm, wait, I think this is the first ever Prince Edward County wine at the LCBO period. Which shows you just how far this little-region-that-could, has come. Let’s find out why this one was chosen: the wine itself is a deep rich hue of purple, with dark fruit and pepper spiciness on the nose. Taste-wise, you’ll find cassis, blackberry and some loganberry, mixed with some of that black peppery goodness from the nose. There is some tannin bite, and you’ll find some unfiltered fine sediment in the bottom of your last glass. You’ll be able to lie this one down for 2 to 3 years to its benefit. But right now, it goes plenty well with grilled meat and BBQ sauce … yummy.
