(December 14, 2018) ... The four in the name of this wine refers to the four grapes that go into this Rhone Valley red blend by way of California: Syrah (62%), Petite Sirah (34%), Mourvedre (2%), Grenache (2%) ... Now ten years on it is still as beautiful a bottle of wine (as it was in its youth), maybe even better, now that it has had time to settle and the grapes to get used to being together; with lots of dark fruit, plum, blackberry, Christmas spices, vanilla, black cherry - hints of mocha, white pepper and a pretty good hit of tannins ... age has really helped this wine a lot and if I have any more I'd be willing to hold it another 5 years or more.
