So what is the Grandi Marchi?

It’s “a collaboration of winemaking visionaries from across Italy” … “The founders of the Grandi Marchi recognized that by joining forces they could better promote and enhance the great wines of Italy.”

The Grandi Marchi has 19 members, many you have heard of if you are a fan of Italian wines (ie: Antinori, Col D’Orcia, Gaja, Pio Cesare, etc.) but all with a similar set of goals and criteria, such as:

1)    All family owned
2)    Been in operation for at least 25 years
3)    All own their estate vineyards
4)    Recognized for their quality and production practises
5)    All support collaborative efforts

Plenty of wines tasted at this event; if you consider there are 19 members, each pouring three wines (or so) results in about 57 wines in the room – here are the interesting wines tasted during the event:
