Taste it Again: Coyote's Run 2009 Pinot Noir Brut Rose

26 Oct 2016

(March 15, 2016) ... While I admit we try to pull out a bottle of sparkling wine on most Friday's sometimes we just feel like mid-week bubbles and today we opened a bottle of Coyote's Run 2009 Pinot Noir Brut Rose ... this was not one of my wife's favourites even when it was young, but I seemed to have enjoyed it and brought a few bottles home when it was still available at the winery (see written review and video links below).  I'll fully admit this might be bottle varience, cause it really isn't that old to be this oxidative, but if you have some in your cellar it might be worth a re-taste just to make sure.  Yes there's an earthy note to this wine, and the aforementioned oxidative note, but the fruitiness I remember has been curbed by some sour raspberry and my wife seems to have come up with an interesting descriptor for the finish "a little on the motor oil side" - this will require further investigation but alas I have no more bottles to do it with - but that might be a good thing.
