Selvapiana: Interview Tasting

16 Oct 2025

Selvapiana 2At time of writing these notes, the podcast has yet to be released, but should be up soon at Two Guys Talking Wine. Follow the link, and you should be able to find the podcast at some point. Great information both about the winery and their new Terraelectae project... I recommend them both.

For now, these are the wines we tasted at the table during the interview:

Selvapiana 3Selvapiana 2020 Vigneto Erchi (Terraelectae)
- Sangiovese
Bright and lively, with good red fruit: cherry and strawberry. Silky tannins with balancing acidity - could drink this all day and most of the night     too.  (****+)

Selvapiana 2023 Chianti Rufina
- Sangiovese 97% / rest indigenous grapes
Fresh, fruity, and lively. Good red fruit and acidity; drinks very well on its own or paired with food.  (****)

Selvapiana 2023 Villa Petrognano
- Pomino Bianco - Chardonnay / Sauvignon Blanc
Light with hints of citrus and green apple.  (*** ½+)

Selvapiana 2022 Vigneto Bucherchiale - Chianti Rufina Riserva
- Sangiovese
Plenty of smoky, dark fruit; tannins are more aggressive, then the other single vineyard Sangiovese, but so is the acidity. All works well together.  (*** ½+)

Selvapiana 2021 Villa Petrognano - Pomino Rosso
- Sangiovese 60% / Cabernet Sauvignon 20% / Merlot 20%
Typical style of wine with the stuff you expect ... it’s a good wine. But you could find this style from anywhere in Tuscany. Drinkable and tasty.  (*** ½)
